Marty Burn

Oxford Employment Law Solicitors was founded in 2002 by Marty Burn, a graduate of Balliol College, Oxford University. He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association, he is an accredited mediator and a Notary Public.

Acting for Employers

Marty Burn has acted for employers of all shapes and sizes from large corporations to small employers with only a few employees. He regularly advises employers and HR professionals on all areas of employment law issues particularly those affecting senior staff arising from corporate or management restructuring. These include TUPE, redundancy, unfair dismissal, discrimination, termination, compromise agreements, bonuses, share options, contractual issues, grievances and discipline and employment documentation. He also advises on issues relating to including equal opportunities, bullying at work, how to manage poor performance and absences due to ill health.

Marty Burn also acts for employees and in particular senior executives, managers and senior academics. Justin Godbolt

Justin Godbolt joined Oxford Employment Law Solicitors in 2003, one year after it was founded by Marty Burn. Justin is a graduate of Bristol University and studied the Legal Practice Course at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice. He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

Justin is a specialist employment lawyer, but has a background in company and commercial law and still advises on these areas.

Acting for Employers

Justin acts for employers in many different industries, from bioscience to manufacturing, employment agencies to satellite communications companies. His clients include small employers, as well as national and international companies. He has built enduring relationships with many HR professionals whom he advises on all aspects of employment law, from redundancies to disciplinary and capability procedures, from TUPE to contractual matters, and from restructures to defending Employment Tribunal claims.

Justin has particular experience in advising in respect of TUPE issues; a notoriously complicated and specialist area of employment law.

Acting for Employees

Justin’s practice includes acting for employees on all aspects of employment law, including redundancy, negotiating severance packages / settlement agreements, unfair dismissal, bullying and discrimination, maternity and flexible working.

Justin regularly provides advice on contractual matters, including confidentiality and post termination restrictive covenants, and has acted for many employees defending claims against them. He also provides advice on going through grievances and disciplinary procedures, and is known for his pragmatism when it comes to how to deal with these situations.
